082 Day 23 of a 40-Day Practice

DAY TWENTY-THREE OF A FORTY-DAY PRACTICE

MY MISSION STATEMENT - I am devoted, dedicated, committed to experiencing Your Presence, Father consciously, consistently within me and everywhere present. I want to know, to realize, to live for Your Will for me, empowered by Your loving grace. My mission in now clear, I need, I want to share all I am given with whomever You Will, Father. I look to You as my only Source to provide me with everyone and everything it takes to carry out the Mission You gave me. Thank You.

TODAY: FORGIVING

"Resentment is the "number one" offender. It destroys more alcoholics than anything else." (Alcoholics Anonymous p64) Forgiveness is the "number one healer". Forgiveness is too important for us to skip over lightly. If you have not taken your Steps I suggest that you do as soon as possible. After completing the Steps turn to the workshop papers on Forgiveness if you still feel bound by someone or something. These papers contain some useful tools.

A naive person both forgives and forgets. A stupid person nether forgives or forgets. A wise person forgives but does not forget. We do not want to forget where we came from. This remembering opens us for grace of our defect becoming an asset.

When I first came to the Program I did not think that I needed to forgive anyone. I was deeply in denial and still blaming others for my problems. I felt that all who had rejected or harmed me needed punishing, not forgiving. Of course I did not need forgiving for anything because of the fact it was others not me. My part was simple I was the Punisher.

I came to the realization if I wanted the fullness of life, if I wanted loving, caring relationships, if I wanted a joyous, happy and free life, if I wanted an open-heart, mind, and soul then I must be willing to forgive all, even myself. Sometimes I was not able to forgive but I was willing. Then I could look to our Father to do that forgiveness for me. If the doors of my consciousness were clear of clutter I could experience the love I want, I need. The cause of that clutter was holding on to old useless or harmful beliefs and judgments of others and me, my little personal "reality." Our Program teaches by living it we can become; forgiven forgivers forgiving.
